On 10 August 2021, the ŠUMAVA SPRINGS (SSP) project has been launched in Poleň, Klatovy, Chudenice (CZ) and Blaibach, Castle of Miltach (DE) in the presence of representatives from culture, politics and the civil society from Czech Republic and Bavaria as a Czech-Bavarian cross-border cultural initiative in order to set up a comprehensive and lasting cultural cross-border alliance between the Czech Republic and Bavaria focusing on arts and in particular on music as the universal human language.

ŠUMAVA SPRINGS is the outcome of the conceptual collaboration between the Czech-Bavarian tandem of SLAVONIC EUROPE (SE) on the Czech side and FREIES LANDESTHEATER BAYERN (FLTB) on the Bavarian side and will be a three-dimensional undertaking uniting education (vertical dimension), sensual experience (horizontal projection) and the resulting diagonal hyperplane of HUMANITY giving truth, courage and the real sense of life to human beings.

Besides a cross-border music academy for ensembles (quartets, quintets with and without piano and voices) forming eventually the SLAVONIC YOUTH PHILHARMONIC Orchestra (SYP), a digital educational platform SLAVONIC WORLD 2021 for language, history, literature, arts and science instruction as well as a cross-border SSP Music Festival at both sides of the Czech-Bavarian border, the vibrant central piece and spiritual cultural focal point of the SSP project will be the JAN HUS SLAVONIC CULTURAL FORUM (JHSCF) in Poleň in Czech Republic.

Inspired by the universal example of the Czech reformer Mistr Jan HUS (1370-1415), who was the first person of the modern era to initiate and lead a civil society movement that advocated freedom of speech and expression in Europe and gave his life for this ideal, the SSP project aims at founding and building a cultural forum in the form of an open-air opera, concert and conference hall offering the necessary infrastructure for gastronomy as well as leisure time activities for families with children.

The entire JHSCF project will be dedicated to the spiritual und humanist heritage of Jan HUS as an essential and crucial fix point and symbol in our time is perceived as one entity divided into three thematic parts:

CULTURE – PEOPLE – NATURE

The whole project day has been rounded up in the evening by a festive Bavarian-Czech concert at the Castle of Miltach consisting of works and interpreted by artists from both countries.

For the year 2022, SSP has been distinguished by the High Patronage of the Minister of Culture of the Czech Republic, Dr. Lubomír ZAORÁLEK
